This is a big event for our varsity athletes, as this is what they’ve all been working towards all season!  If you’ve never been, you should plan to go, support our competing wrestlers, and take in some great wrestling – and it is great inspiration for our younger wrestlers!

We will have a hospitality room at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Hotel (800 Monroe Street, Huntsville, AL 35801 1- 256-539-7373) which is attached to the Von Braun Center for the team, families, and those who attend to support our team. Other teams have provided this option for their team and it has worked well for them at this state tournament. Those who attend will be able to walk across the cat walk to the hotel for access to the room.  At these larger tournaments no outside food or drink is allowed and often proper hydration and nutrition is not available  for the boys.  The cost of food and water is also very  expensive. If you would like we are looking for someone to donate Hilton points or money toward the cost of the room.

We are planning to make goodie bags for the boys (those competing as well as those going to support their teammates) as a “good luck” sendoff for state this weekend.  If you are interested in donating items to include in their goodie bags, please contact me. We will try to focus on healthy and inspirational components, but also want there to be some fun and maybe “not so healthy” surprises too!  We will also need food and drink for our hospitality room. Please let me know if you are willing to help with the cost of the food.

Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich Volunteers

Volunteers make PB&J sandwiches for the wrestlers in advance and make sure that they are there before the team leaves for AWAY events and all HOME events.  I will update the number of sandwiches needed for each sign-up as we get closer to each match/event.

Best Practices:
1.
Use 100% whole wheat bread (One loaf usually makes 11 sandwiches)
2
To make sandwiches quicker you can mix together two large peanut butter and one large jelly jars before spreading onto bread.  As an alternative you can use premixed bottles, such as Smucker's Goober PB&J Grape or Strawberry Stripes.
3
We suggest that you arrive no later than weigh-in time for HOME events or before bus departure for AWAY events.

Please contact me if you have any questions.  Thank you!

Thank you!

How to Use TrackWrestling
Using TrackWrestling on your iPhone or iPad will allow you to see “near real-time” match scores and, more importantly, upcoming mat assignments.  Here is a quick way to get started:
1. Go to www.trackwrestling.com
2. Click on “BROWSE” tab
3. Click on “
Tournaments” tab
4. Click on “
Search Events” box at top
5. Next to State, Select “
Alabama” then click on Search box
    * You can search using different criteria, but this is probably the quickest *
6. Click on “
JH Swede Umbach Pools
7. Click on “
Enter Event
8. Once the tournament starts, you should see one of the 2 views below depending on whether you are using an iPad/Desktop or iPhone. The window times out if you don’t click on anything for a while. If this happens, you will have to re-start from the top.
9. Change the number of upcoming matches on each mat by clicking on the gray box labeled “DEPTH” and entering a number from 1-5.

Thank you!

New Team Uniforms!

We are excited to announce that the Wrestling Team will have new Rudis Gear Uniforms this upcoming wrestling season! Wrestlers will not be wearing singlets! This initiative is not just in our area but nationally. Instead they will compete in compression shorts and shirts. There will be times that Varsity wrestlers may choose wear the old singlets during competition, but for the most part, everyone will be in the new uniform. Therefore each wrestler will be responsible for purchasing a new uniform package. The Booster Club has been busy raising money to offset the cost of this package during the off season. New uniforms is a massive expense (over $10,000). In order to have the uniforms arriving in time for the upcoming season it is important that we begin to take up Team Fees and Uniform Fees NOW. If your child has not been sized for a uniform please contact Coach Bullington (teacher at AJHS) or have your child text Coach Spencer to set up a time to get properly sized.  Please follow the link below and pay these two fees as soon as possible. We have several more fundraisers coming up.

These volunteer positions will generate funds to be used to offset various costs throughout the upcoming season. Click on the logo at right or here to volunteer!

Main gate and Visitor gate volunteers must be 18 or older to handle money associated with selling game tickets. Those working the Visitor gate are asked to report to the main gate prior to the beginning of their shift to pick up a money box from Teresa Hildreth. Volunteers working the Handicap gate will only take tickets and not be selling them.

All games are scheduled to start at 7:00 PM. As you will arrive well before game time, plenty of parking will be available in the field next to the stadium.

If you have any questions, please contact Dawn Stewart at dwstewart@auburnschools.org or (334) 559-2759.
