March 15th, 2020

Dear Auburn Takedown Family,
In light of the coronavirus pandemic, Governor Kay Ivey declared a state of emergency on Tuesday to protect the citizens of Alabama and mitigate the effects of the COFID-19 disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

In response to this crisis, we will close the club through the end of the week to begin a program based on the CDC's recommendation of deep cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitizing in order to guarantee a safe and healthy training environment.

When we re-open, we ask anyone who displays the following symptoms to refrain from entering the facility.

• Fever
• Cough

• Shortness of Breath

We appreciate your patience and understanding, and hope you and your family stay healthy during this unprecedented period.

Regards,
Coach Tanaka

Alabama Kids Duals Results!

Zachary Parks received a 3rd place team medal while Jameson Lackey, Wesley Parks, and Aubrey Parks received 4th place team medals!

Cobalt Canines - 3rd Place Team

Orange Orangutans - 4th Place Team

This was a great opening tournament to start the season! Here’s a short summary of the event.
- This dual format allowed every wrestler to have at least 4 matches!  Several had more.
- Eight teams were composed of a mix of wrestlers from various clubs, all randomly assigned.  Coaches Clem and Kirby volunteered to lead the "Orange Orangutans"
- Four Takedown wrestlers participated. Jameson, Wesley, and Aubrey were members of the “Orange Orangutans” while Zachary was placed on the “Cobalt Canines”.
- The team dual format split the 8 teams into two 4-team “pools”.  The 4-teams in each pool wrestled each other in a round-robin format (i.e.- 1 vs. 2, 1 vs. 3, 2 vs. 3).
- The top team in the 2 pools were matched up in the “gold” round.  The 2nd place teams were matched up in the “silver” round.  And so on.
- The Orange Orangutans placed 2nd in our pool and qualified for the “Silver” round, ending up 4th overall when we lost 33-29 to the 3rd place Cobalt Canines.
- Jameson finished the day 2-4 with 2 pins, Zachary ended 1-3 with 1 pin, Wesley wrestled to a 2-2 record, and Aubrey lead the Takedown team with an overall 3-2 record with 2 pins!

Bayside Invitational Results!

Not to be outdone, Noah dominated at the Bayside Invitational down at the Bayside Academy in Daphne, AL.  Demonstrating no mercy on his opponent, Noah completed the day with a pin in 1:03 in the championship match, finishing 2-0 on the day!

Tumbling for Youth, MS, HS Wrestlers
Wrestling isn't just about moves, it takes strength, flexibility, power, and tremendous body awareness to win matches.  These tumbling classes will introduce wrestlers to foundational tumbling skills to aid in increased balance, flexibility, strength and agility.  Whether you are just starting out or have had several years on the mat, all wrestlers will benefit from this program.

Level 1: Starting with basic forward/backward rolls and cartwheels, you'll progress towards handstands, front/back walkovers, roundoffs and connecting skills.

Level 2: This breaks down a back handspring into sections, so athletes learn the correct shapes, and proper body control to perform standing, running and combination handsprings. Advancing further, wrestlers continue on their journey to flipping with a focus on tuck shaping and learning how to connect a flip from a back handspring.

November 11, 2019

Nov 16th: Alabama Kids Duals
This will be our first tournament this season and is a Duals based format, meaning that wrestlers will be randomly assigned to a team; wrestlers will compete on assigned team against other teams created from the registrants for this tournament.  This is an excellent opportunity for new wrestlers to meet others from across the state and experience wrestling in a laid-back, fun event before traditional tournaments begin. The focus is on wrestling etiquette, match format, and confidence building. Kid Duals is a great way to kick-off youth season for returning wrestlers with invaluable mat time.  This tournament WILL count towards seeding for the Youth State Tournament so weigh-ins are required.

Wrestlers must have an AAU Card and pre-registration is required (link below).  Registration will be first come – first serve, with a cap of 200 wrestlers. There will be NO manual registrations allowed on tournament day. Tournament fee is paid online and includes a T-shirt.
