USA Wrestling Update: Important
The following information was promulgated during Team Alabama's (USA Wrestling) coaches meeting on Sunday, Sep 19th.

USAW Membership
Contrary to previous postings, a USA Wrestling membership
IS required for all practices and clinics. For those NOT planning to participate in any tournament, wrestlers are required (at a minimum) to have a Limited Folkstyle Athlete Membership ($15) USAW Membership. Those who DO plan to wrestle in the upcoming tournaments (including those out-of-state) will require a “Full Athlete” membership ($41).  Either membership can be purchased through the following website:  If you are unsure, simply purchase a “Limited” membership now and upgrade to the full membership later. You’ll be able to print a paper membership card immediately and can purchase a “hard card” for $10 extra which you will receive in the mail.

Call for Volunteers and Coaches!
If you have a desire to get on the mat or assist behind the scenes, we could use your help!  For those with (or even without) wrestling experience, you could be a coach! Training for youth wrestlers is rather rudimentary and can be picked up fairly quickly. For the most part, once you learn the basic rules, positions, and techniques, you can be an incredible asset to the team as well as to your wrestler!

If you prefer to work behind the scenes, volunteers can assist with organizing car pooling to tournaments, helping parents who are new to the sport, promoting events through social media, and fundraising (yes, I know, a four-letter word!). To continue buidling our program, we could also use help in attracting more participation and stronger community support through media promotions.

The bottom line: Volunteering provides an opportunity to be an active part of our young grapplers experience as they progress into junior high and high school. It also increase team cohesiveness and brings us together as a family. Please e-mail me if you would be willing to help. Any support will be appreciated!

We are excited to be using for all schedules and communications this season.  The app can be used on a desktop or smart phone. Previous team parents should have received an invitation to join the group. For new members and those who have NOT received an invite, please e-mail me with your contact information and you will receive one soon. As this is the first time we’re using this program, there may be a bit of a learning curve.

Pre-Season Workout Schedule

Who: 1st through 6th grade students

Mon: Auburn MMA, 4-5 PM
Tue: Kagefit, 6:30-7:30 PM
Wed: Auburn MMA, 4-5 PM
        Kagefit, 6:00-7:15 PM
Thu: No practice. (Thursday practices will be added when the season starts).
Fri: Kagefit, 5:30-6:30 PM

Workouts will include technique, (age appropriate) conditioning, speed, and strength training.

Since we are still unable to use Auburn Junior High, we will practice at Kagefit and Auburn MMA during the regular season.

This will mean a few changes from previous years.  First, along with those in the Auburn City Schools systems, we will be combining forces with wrestlers from adjacent school districts which will actually be to our benefit.  Second, monthly fees will now be required (see below for details).
